WestAmerica Mortgage Co. is on track to boost originations by 20 percent this year, according to an interview with the company's president. WestAmerica recently hired some former American Home Mortgage employees and is currently in talks with a more retail groups that could result further hires. WestAmerica has never participated in subprime lending, he noted, adding that they had previously done more Alt-A business.
