Rates Jump

The average 30 year fixed-rate mortgage was 6.53 percent, according to Freddie Mac's latest weekly survey. The 30 year jumped from the prior week, the survey said. The increase in mortgage rates was attributed to a strong employment report, Freddie's chief economist said in the survey.
