Post Bad Leads Cost Broker $50,000

A California-based mortgage broker will pay a $50,000 fine under a court order filed Wednesday by the Federal Trade Commission. The fine was issued for calling over 100,000 prospective borrowers on the National Do Not Call Registry. The broker claimed it relied on service providers for their compliance with DNC rules.

Wow they got off pretty easy. IIRC, each instance is a fine of $10,000 under normal circumstances. 100,000 x $10,000 = a lot!
