just got my license

I just got my license as a mortgage solicitor. Did it mainly to gain knowledge so I can get the right financing to purchase a home. Only problem is my broker is unable to show me how to play the mortgage "game". I have friends that were interested in getting a loan but after I got to know the company I dont think I will be able to help them, because what I learned from the training videos was only the "fluff" and not the "nitty gritty" of the business. Kinda getting discouraged with all the "fluff". Does anyone out there have similar issues? I tried to stay close to the mortgage processor and watch what they do and also to inquire about my prequal application but I just get the answer that they are working on it.

Paradigm is an unknown quantity at this point
Hate to burst your bubble but how did you get a license to be a mortgage solicitor / mortgage broker with no experience????

You need to do your time in working with a Bank / Mortgage Lender or Broker for
a few years before taking on a responsibility of owning your own shop.

I dont understand how the banking department in your State can issue you a license without solid experience!!!

Words of wisdom to your time and educate first....

Good Luck

Works for a brokerage.

Paradigm, I understand how you feel and on a professional level I agree whole heartedly.

As the moderator of this message board I am going to stand behind the purpose of the forum and that is to help educate people on the business and provide opinions to help direct unguided loan officers or loan officers who simply have not mastered all the endeavors of the mortgage business.

In knowing all 50 states licensing requirements I must say that the state that decides to let such an uneducated loan officer operate is the entity to blame. Mort Newbie did nothing wrong. He got a license per the states requirements and is subject to what is common in mortgage brokerages. Lack of training, direction, and guidance.

We will help you close your loans for yourself and your friends Mort. Any questions you have we will all try to help. I highly recommend investing in some solid training since your broker will not help. I would also seek a brokerage that promises training. There is a member on this board named Secret! who sells lessons and I believe has over 30 years in the industry.

Thanks for joining. We are glad to help.
