Chris is on a distinguished road
Hello from Vegas!

I came across this forum while surfing the net the other night. This seems like a really cool and friendly site to share and gather some valueable information. I hope to contribute and gain as much as I can from all the fellow memebers of this site.

A quick introduction of myself: I have been in the mortgage industry now for about 6 years. I started out with a big builder here in town doing processing and later moved on to a small broker as an LO assistant. I just recently started my new position as an Loan Officer for a regional bank. I have been there for a month now and it's been really tough. No leads or business yet, but I optimistic about things. It's a tough business and I understand that, I guess I just want things to happen fast for me.

Which brings me here, where I hoping to gain more experience and knowledge!

Hey Chris!

Im Martin* a loan officer here in Vegas as well. You would think that with all the contruction going on all around town we as loan officers would be up to our necks with loan apps.
Im here to help you even though you are a competitor* but you might offer loans I dont (VA & FHA) so if any of those come my way expect a call or email.
Our company along with a Escrow/Title Company are holding a mixer and inviting a few realtors towards the end of February. As soon as date and time are set I'll let you know so i can come introduce urself. just dont steal my realtors from me. hehe I have 2 that work exclusively with me* just like my teammates have their exclusive realtors.

-Martin

p.s. The other weekend I went out with my realtor and got plastered to where we had our calls redirected to our cell phones the next day. You think thats crossing the line? Whats sad is even tho we were drunk* we kept talking about our jobs.

Everywhere you go* everything you do... make it work related and you will be successful. Especially in a town on las vegas were you're noone until you name gets around or you know someone* who knows someone* who needs a loan and remembers your name.

But hey....thats Vegas for ya

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

Erik: I really didn't get any training when I started, just a quick run through on the program that we use. So I'm pretty much on my own, with no leads or referrals. I do have the experience and can originate and close loans. It's just the whole marketing and actually getting the business that I'm having probelms with right now. I have had so many "no's", that I just can't seem to get a "yes"!

The Bid Chief: lol, no problem once I close a loan.

ktloan1: Thanks for the offer, but the bank that I work for is a huge commerical lender here in town. So naturally, they have that covered.

MartinMtz: I have noticed that the market has slowed down quite a bit here in town, even some of the realtors that I have contacted have said the same. But deals are still being made, so somebody got to be getting that business. We just have to work that much more to get them. We do offer VA/FHA loans, so if come across any I would appreciate the business. The mixer sounds cool, if you don't mind inviting me. I need to network with as many contacts as possible, but I would understand if not, business is business. Thanks for the advice.
