Smile Hello from an Appraiser & New Member!

Just wanted to start out right and introduce myself. I’m new to Forums (blame the market slow down). I’ve been an Appraiser since 1991. Prior to that, I was an Art Director and Advertising Production Manager for Tower Records, (it’s funny to think back to that, CD’s were brand new then). It’s funny, I got out of advertising in part, because I was tired of daily and weekly deadlines (man, I hated Fridays). What was I thinking? Appraisal deadline are worst and entail legal ramification if I miss some crucial bit of info. Anyway, I found my way here because I just wanted to learn a bit more about the Mortgage Broker point of view. Hopefully I’ll learn to better market my services to my local brokers. Cheers!

Thanks,

I'll be glad to answer any questions and of course I would welcome any appraisal assignment. But I'm really just here to learn.

Cheers!

Jerry,

Good to meet you! So, how long does it take to inspect an two or three story brownstone with basement? I spent 1-1/2 hours inspecting a 117 year old farm house yesterday. It was a post foreclosure, and someone had stripped all appliances, sinks, bathroom vanities, water heater, furnace, door hardware and light fixtures. Two pages of notes and 24 photos later, I was on my way looking for comps.

the brownstones are a snap, KL, cookie cutter. it's the 5000sf ziggy zaggies in the hamptons where they consider it gauche to post a street number.
you can spend 45 min. just measuring.
Jerry
