Hello There! Welcome to the site. Anyhow, as per FCRA there is really no such thing as Credit Repair. The client has to initiate the process where they pay for their dues then clear the discrepancy on their credit report.

Actually, the only person that is allowed to see the clients credit report is the client and the mortgage broker that is assigned to pull credit. Credit Repair Services are not allowed to view other people's credit report b/c you don't have the permissible purpose to do so.

You are correct when their is no such thing as credit repair, It is more like credit correction. As for the credit report, I only view the credit report provided to me by the client. Many times they pull one themselves off of annual credit report.com. Either way we have been successful in deleting BK's, foreclosures, late payments and the like raising people's fico scores on average of about 60-90 points within 30-60 days. Thanks for the input and the welcome.

Hi Jason - welcome to MBL. I look forward to learning more about credit repair because it's something I don't know a lot about.

Maybe you could do an intro to credit repair basics post for those of us that don't know much about what you do?

Credit Repair is one of those "taboo" services, everyone thinks it doesn't work or that anyone can do it. The truth is we are able to improve Ficos on 90-95% of clients credit reports. There is the small percentage where nothing can be done. And yes, this is something that any person can do for themselves and it is free for them to do so. They can even log onto www.annualcreditreport.com and it will walk them through the procees on line- completley free.
However, I can work on my car for free and it doesn't mean that I can fix it in a way that will make it run any better. I would rather let a mechanic fix it because I know that they know what they are doing and can do it better than I can.
Same thing with Credit Repair, this is what we specialize in, we know what to say, how to say it and who to say it to to get the desired results people are looking for. Is it a 100% certain that their ficos will change? No, noone can promise that, but that is what money back guarantees are for.
Using the FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act) we open up investigations on negative items not just to verify that the derog was the clients but also to show that it was reported correctly. 79% of consumer credit reports have errors of some kind. We exist to get them off. However, rather than writing a huge book just ask me questions and I will be more tahn happy to answer them. I can also assist you in showing what you can do for a quick Rapid rescore for those who do not know much about them. (I do not do the Rapid Rescores, but can show you what you would need to do if it will benefit the client at all.)

You mean that credit repair companies cannot PULL credit reports because they do not have permissable purpose to do so. Credit repair companies can VIEW any credit report that is put in front of their eyes by the consumer or broker.

No mortgage broker should be giving away any individuals credit report to anyone. THAT IS ILLEGAL! Let me know what broker is doing that and I can guarantee you Transunion or Equifax will cancel their account IMMEDIATELY.

You stated that a credit repair company cannot view someone elses credit report, which was incorrect. If a client provides us with their credit report we can look at it all day long. I was giving you the benefit of the doubt on making an inaccurate statement.

Carlo, why all of a sudden do you have something against credit repair companies? From some of the posts I have read it seems that way, please correct me if I am making the wrong assumption here.

Thanks for your quick reply

It is not illegal, they are under contract not to give the credit reports out. I cannot help it if the consumer comes to me with a credit report that was given to them by a broker. In the future I suppose I can close my eyes while trying to view it and I will go a step further, I will chastise the broker for you, so that you do not have to.

Wouldn't this fall under the signature authorization, where if it's pertinent to the transaction the information could be shared?
