Domain/Web Page Building

Ok I am taking a dive into something I just never wanted to make time for. I know how easy it is to do this but the time to get it all up and right has always been the hold back for me.

So I am starting this thread to give you progress and to get tips and tricks from other webmasters on the forum.

After 2 hours of debating with myself on which host to use I picked www.networksolutions.com

These folks provide service to a lot of big businesses including hosting the Home123 page. I have no contract and it is 11.99 mo. The domain name was 11.99 yr. When I get everything setup and going I am likely going to switch to a yearly package because it will save me some money.

I bought www.businesswithgreg.com

My intention is to make it into a mortgage site but at the same time market my other services as well.

So I will start with this post and hope some other people can share some of their tips soon.

Good domain name, Greg. Are you going to do a video cast and call it "Mortgages with Greg"? I'm not being sarcastic - I bet it would be a good thing to do.

I've never used Network Solutions, except to buy some names back in the day when they were still a monopoly (circa 1999-2000), but they're a big dog so I'm sure you'll get everything you need from them. If not, I can recommend a host or two that are also good.

Just FYI... nothing is resolving at your new site yet, though I'm sure you probably already knew that. I'm excited to see what you do with it.

Yeah I just bought it today and it can take up to 48 hours. I have not done anything to it at all yet. I will start creating the pages each night when I am at home. This is going to take me a little while.

Not a bad idea at all. It will be a start to a plethora of "with greg" services. lol

I am going to do some forums on there though. They will be consumer and referral driven.

We will see. I have to step back and think about how I want to do this. I want to think big picture. I might do sub-domains for each service and make the homepage an online resume.. Sorta.

All the time. I don't use any of the WSYWIG stuff anymore but I still use it to edit/update my code, instead of just using notepad or wordpad.

Ok day 2..

Couple things. The url needs fixed. They sold me www.buisnesswithgreg.com

That one is live right now and I spent 4 hours so far and the progress is there until they switch the domain name. I ordered the domain name on the phone. He typed wrong or something.

I have so much more work to do!

no i am using trendyflash for right now. I will build my own later. it will take me so long to do but yesterday I started it.
