Questions about mortgage/financial services?

How often is a mortgage or debt consolidation service actually a scam?

Is it common to make mortgage application on the phone? Is it a good idea?
How about making an online application? Do people easily give out SSN and all other private info?

Are there mortgage services in most cities, say with population over 20.000?

Do local mortgage businesses or their agents usually serve a city or a county or state/province.

Is it legal to offer listings for mortgage services? Never seen such a thing.

these are some pretty deep questions. They seem to be leading however. It almost sounds like you already have the answers .

What is it that you are REALLY trying to say, and what do you want to know?

You sound like a CONSUMER who's come to an industry personnel only discussion board, who's having some problems or serious concerns at minimum. I'll do my best to help:

Is it common to make mortgage application on the phone? YES Is it a good idea? OF COURSE
How about making an online application? FINE IF THE ACTUAL PAGE IS "SECURED" Do people easily give out SSN and all other private info? "IF" THEY ARE ACTUALLY ASKING FOR A LOAN OF COURSE, IF THEY'RE MERELY 'SHOPPING' - DON'T WASTE EVERYBODY'S TIME
Are there mortgage services in most cities, say with population over 20.000? YES, THEY ARE AVAILABLE TO PEOPLE ALL OVER THE NATION, EITHER VIA FACE TO FACE INSIDE A BRICK & MORTAR OFFICE OR VIA INTERNET

Do local mortgage businesses or their agents usually serve a city or a county or state/province. MANY STAY 'LOCAL' WHILE OTHERS WILL WORK IN A LARGER AREA, INTERNET FOR INSTANCE WOULD BE AN EXAMPLE OF WORKING IN A LARGER SCALE ENVIRONMENT

Is it legal to offer listings for mortgage services? SURE IT IS Never seen such a thing. DO YOU LIVE HERE IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA? IF YES, THEN YOU HAD TO NOTICE THEM!

Actually, this is someone that made a couple of posts to promote non-relevant sites in their signature line. The questions she asked, and the answers Secret provided may help someone else out in the future someday so I figured I'd leave that, but the spam links are gone.

I know, a 'normal American adult' should know what I said; I took it that maybe this is a person where English may not be their first language, or someone new to America. Maybe extremely young and not too worldly. It's tough to figure it out from the text only.
