Mortgage King that is great. This is your first post. You should share more and introduce yourself.

I did not clear 150k from originating solely. I think I will hands down in 2006. 2nd half I averaged over 150k though. Slow start.

How many people, in other walks of life who call themselves "professionals" do you think post into a public forum and discuss their income?

Do ya think MAYBE this is one reason the public sees this industry as being so sleazy? I DO

It is a rewarding business and it does not insinuate in any way any of us are money hungry or not more about the customer.

I educate all of my borrowers on what yield spread is, how much exactly I am charging them, and I try to be more fair than most. I make money by closing high volume.

Many of us are proud to be able to clear 6 figure income and knowing that inspires many new originators to be better. To learn and educate themselves faster so they can be on that level more quickly.

Just another view to consider. I do see how that could be constituted by the public as sleazy. But, in many cases it is just the only thing one can say to feel good about themselves. There are not many rewards given in brokerages or performance raises. So in a loan officer forum we can see who is making money and find out more about how they did so well.

But, Secret is right. If the public eye catches it then it would likely be perceived as sleazy. Or maybe they will want to join the industry.

If Doctors or Lawyers knew how to use the internet, I suspect this topic would come up amongst them as well. Not everyone would choose to participate or disclose their annual income, but it would come up.

Proud of your income? Tell your significant other and your folks ... telling ME isn't something you should do ... unless your past income has something to do with our private and confidential business relationship somehow.
