Free, Open Source Training Manual?

I wish to assemble a free, open source, basic processing manual for new loan originators. Subjects would include sections like:

Reading a Rate Sheet
Completing the 1003
Building a Good Faith Estimate
Locking vs Floating

This manual would be displayed online here at lenderama, and anywhere else a contributor would like to publish it (so long as it is free). I need help though, I don't have time to write every story, or even most of them. So my idea is to get experts from around the industry to each take on a few sections. A link to the authors website will be included in each story, and will be a requirement of the Copyright license. This way, everyone who contributes gets links on any site that publishes the manual.

Before I finalize a table of contents, I'm looking for input either by email or here as to the level of interest among contributors. Professional Mortgage Trainers, Experienced Loan Originators, Contract Processors, and anyone who feels they can help are all welcome.

Great idea, Lenderama. Sounds like something that I'd definitely like to include here at MBL or at least link to. Keep me posted on when it's ready.

Would you be interested in writing a post or two. I can make it really simple. I have a training manual in Word format. It was given to me for free, but is surely copyright material. Still, I could send out the sections to anyone who wanted to contribute to use as an outline for what needs to be said. Expression is protected by copyright, ideas and processes are not. All you would need to do is right the section in your own words adding any experiances you feel would be of value.

I would love to do a topic Todd, since I was a corporate trainer for LO and Processors I think I could whip something up.

What topics have already been spoken for? I will touch on one that has not been taken yet. My personal favorite is income on a W-2 wage earner or the good old self-employed sch. c folk!

Thank you for the opportunity to help out the industry!

No sweat - I knew who you were talking about

I'll take YSP and market influences on rates in the rate sheets-closing costs section, maybe more later.

I could take the Laon sub forms and stacking order off of your hands. Just let me know, and I will whip something up for you.
