i find it hard to believe your friends would not have a contract, nor would you and your husband shell out 135k without a contract. If this is the case, you have no legal cause to get your 135k back, now do you?
I would suggest that you PURCHASE the house and keep it quiet, because if you back out - how does your friends give you back the 135k? I guess if they were TRUE friends, they would then say ok, sell the house, and give you back the 135k if it sold for 135k more because of the upgrades.
However, i dont believe that your scenerio is real case. I think you made it up.
